Arnold Schwarzenegger has left a sensible post on his Instagram page these days. In his video, he tells about the problem of homelessness in the USA and its causes.
Arnold describes the problem based on his life experience. He used to have a friend who was a postal worker. In 1968, that man was able to rent a good apartment in Santa Monica for his salary ($1400). He spent $284 on renting an apartment each month. Today, no postal worker can afford this any longer.
According to Schwarzenegger, nowadays a similar apartment costs $3000 per month. A lucky postal worker can earn $5000, which means he'll need to spend over 50% of his salary on apartment.
There are over 500,000 homeless people in the USA. Arnold Schwarzenegger encourages the federal and local governments to address the problem. The private sector, the non-profit sector and the academic sector can also be of great help.TW FB
